  3. What is the Dr. Schär Institute Nutrition Project Award?

The Dr. Schär Institute Nutrition Project Award is an initiative of Dr. Schär, a leading manufacturer of gluten-free foods with nearly 40 years experience in the research, development and production of gluten-free products and other innovative dietetic foods for special nutritional requirements.

The DSI Nutrition Project Award is a biennial offering and welcomes submissions from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. The award offers registered healthcare professionals in participating countries the opportunity to win an €15,000 (or equivalent UK sterling) cash sum to fund/part fund a research or service development project specifically aimed at improving the nutritional care of patients with a gastroenterological condition.

 

Examples of projects that may be considered include: 

  • Audits of patient care and outcomes
  • Development/pilot of new services
  • Production of patient materials or resources
  • Re-development/review of patient care pathways

The award may be used to support the project in a number of ways, for example to fund/part fund an additional post, cover expenses incurred during the project or simply to provide the physical resources needed for the successful completion of the project.

Who can apply?

All registered health care professionals working within participating countries and affi liated to an academic or medical institution are eligible to apply for the award. The project must commence within 6 months of receipt of the award and reach completion within an 18 month period.
