Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

means the progressive loss of kidney function over time. Almost 10% of the world's adult population is affected by one of the five stages of CKD. In addition to pharmacotherapy, the treatment consists of a medical nutrition therapy, low in protein and with balanced mineral intake. This allows maintenance of good nutritional status, management of symptoms and slows the progression towards renal replacement therapy (dialysis, kidney transplantation).
