VItaMì

Varietà Italiane di Miglio

From seed to supply chain: the journey of the VItaMì project

The VitaMì project started in 2020, with the first crosses between selected millet varieties. Since then, year after year, the project has grown with care and dedication: over 6,000 lines cultivated in greenhouses, resulting from four different crosses, with a careful selection of 1,000 plants to be brought into the field.

In 2022, the first field trials and evaluations of the most promising lines began, in a patient and rigorous process that is delivering solid and reliable results.

The goal is clear: to distribute the first seeds to our partner farmers in 2027, opening up new opportunities for sustainable, high-quality cultivation.

Why millet?

Millet is a naturally gluten-free cereal, rich in nutrients. Its short growing cycle, combined with resistance to heat, drought, pests and diseases, makes it a sustainable, resilient and valuable crop for the future of agriculture.
